Our Golden Pledge® Limited Warranty covers a wide range of GAF roofing products, including GAF Asphaltic Shingles, GAF Ridge Cap Shingles, GAF Starter Strip Shingles, GAF Leak Barrier Products, GAF Roof Deck Protection Products, GAF Cobra® Attic Ventilation Products, GAF Master Flow® Attic Exhaust Ventilation Products, and GAF Master Flow™ Pivot™ Pipe Boot Flashing. It provides coverage in the unlikely event that these products contain a manufacturing defect. Additionally, it covers the misapplication of GAF Products and flashings at valleys, dormers, chimneys, and plumbing vents, referred to as “Covered Flashings.”

How Long Does the Warranty Last?
The Golden Pledge® Limited Warranty duration varies depending on the specific GAF product used in your roofing system. Here are some key terms:
- GAF Shingles: Lifetime coverage for manufacturing defects, wind warranty coverage for up to 50 years, and algae warranty coverage for up to 15 years.
- LayerLock®-labeled Timberline® Shingles: Lifetime coverage for manufacturing defects, wind warranty coverage for up to 50 years, and algae warranty coverage for up to 25 years.
- All Other GAF Lifetime† Shingles: Lifetime coverage for manufacturing defects, wind warranty coverage for up to 50 years, and algae warranty coverage for up to 10 years.
- GAF Ridge Cap Shingles: Manufacturing defect coverage, wind warranty coverage for up to 15 years, and algae warranty coverage for up to 25 years.
- GAF Starter Strip Shingles: Manufacturing defect coverage, wind warranty coverage, and algae warranty coverage for the same term as the shingle they are installed with.
- Other GAF Accessories: Manufacturing defect coverage, wind warranty coverage, and algae warranty coverage based on the installed product.
Can the Warranty Be Transferred?
Yes, our warranty is transferable under specific conditions. If you live in the United States or Canada and are the original property owner or the first subsequent owner (if the warranty was transferred correctly), you are covered by this limited warranty. It can be transferred once to a second owner within one year after the property transfer. If the transfer occurs within the first 20 years after installation, the second owner receives the same coverage as the original owner. After 20 years, the warranty period is reduced to two years.
What Is Covered in Case of Manufacturing Defects?
For manufacturing defects covered under our warranty, we provide comprehensive coverage during the “Smart Choice® Protection Period.” During this period, we will pay for the total reasonable cost of labor to repair or re-cover any defective GAF Product(s). If necessary, we will provide replacement GAF Products or the reasonable cost of obtaining replacement GAF Products.
What Is Not Covered by the Warranty?
While our warranty is comprehensive, it’s essential to understand what is not covered. Some exclusions include damage from factors beyond manufacturing defects or misapplication, such as acts of nature (hail, fire, high winds), impact from traffic or foreign objects, and improper storage or handling of GAF Products. Additionally, damage to the interior or exterior of the building, issues caused by rooftop air-conditioning units, and improperly designed or installed gutter or downspout systems are not covered.
